    The Wonders of MXC311

    Hey Guys,

I had a problem with an MXC311 transfer belt. It had a created brail like pattern across it (See photos) I put a new belt in and all was fine, I am mostly wondering what might have caused this to help prevent it in the future as this is a machine located 2 hours from our shop.

    IMG00119-20111025-1514.jpgIMG00120-20111025-1515.jpg

The machine only has 15k on it in total.

It's kinda weird, I disassembled the belt and could not find anything inside it that would make such impressions. We thought that i might be a star ring but it does not line up with them and there are too many different lines. They are straight lines that go with the belt that are broken up in dots and short line random pattern. The dots and lines are only raised up from the surface of the belt none that go in which led me to believe it was something internal.

Anyone seen anything like this before? or ideas are always helpful toooooo!

I've seen something similar when the fuser drive gear shells out an pieces of it get under the belt.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

It definitely looks like it is coming from inside. I have seen the cam clips snap (see pic from previous post by Lawrence)401belt.jpg but never cause that much damage. Find anything interesting in the cleaner unit?

Nope nothing funny in the cleaning assembly. What is the original post for that picture, it seems to not have a link to the larger image.

I would guess something was floating around inside that belt and every time it hit one of the hard rollers it made your indent. By any chance did the customer do a long run and then notice the problem? I wonder if when the transfer belt is charged would the peice of debris be able to stick to the inside of the belt.

Try putting the belt on edge and shake it to see if any thing falls out.

I had this one today. After taking it apart, the only thing missing was the clip for the FTR. The belt had raised spots from the debris getting underneath the belt. I replaced the clip and belt and reinstalled. Will have to wait and see if that was the cause.

Cool. Nice to now. I had taken the belt apart but I could not find anything that caused the problem...who know might have been re-seated while I was taking it apart.

              Thanks.

Hey Mojarolla, what is with the Canadian magazine as your avatar image? I am Canadian so it struck me as weird.

I just found it oddly funny. I go to Canada a few times a year; only a few hours from Ohio. And all of those times I was there, I never once noticed any Canadian children dressed like that, let alone cradling a cat.
