In the fax mode if the number is dialed without pressing speaker first the machine will not dial the number and after about 20 seconds it will go into recall mode. tested dialing with 66-16 and works fine but when not in sim. mode it will not which makes them have to dial manually and not able to use the address book. WEIRD!? Please help.

There is a soft sw that deals with dial tone detect or something along that nature. When it is set wrong it will work going thru the speaker button but not when using memory. There is a bulletin on the ar 208d that covers this you may want to check that.Comment

the memory could be bad but this just started and the machine is 3 years old. it worked up untill the last 2 weeks. non of the soft switches have been changed. It will not direct send when the speaker button is pressed only memory send. I could try and do a memory clear.Comment

Go into SIM 22-10 and check for the memory chip. If it says "none" under fax memory, you have bad memory. You could also try this: power the machine down. Disconnect fax unit, and power back on. Enter SIM 66-10 and clear the fax memory. If it won't clear, again, bad memory. If it clears, power down, re-attach fax unit and try again.

Customer had changes made to their phone system and i didn't know it. changed soft switch 53 bit 4 to dial even if dial tone is not detected. working now.
