I agree with Blackcat and the others. This is what I experience sometimes with a defective LSU unit. I know you can order the polygonal mirror motor, but most of the time I have to replace the entire unit when I have an image like the one you have shown. The polygonal mirror replacement seems to work for me only when I have a diagnostic code related to the motor not rotating.

Let us know how it goes!

Oh Yeah LSU just take care when you replace it to test it before you reinstall your covers. the LSU can be adjusted slightly and will give you quaslity issues!

I had a ARM455 that dusted before the PCU fix came out and it got up into the laser. My rear frame edge was faded. I had to totally tear the laser apart and clean each slit glass and mirror and the problem was solved. On the bottom of the laser is 2 screws that get you into a little cavity you can't reach from the inside. First time i checked the laser i didn't pull that bottom cover off and missed the dusting inside. After new DV unit and drum no fix. Went back to the laser and tada.

I did clean the laser inside and out. I'm assuming you're talking about the two screws that hold the sheet metal cover on the laser?

Shown in the pic is 3 screws that hold that cover on. If i remmeber you can take out the 2 more screws holding the metal "springs" that hold another mirror. On my machine i had to clean in here. You can't get in here from the top side of the laser.

Re: AR-M455 CQ Stumper of The Year

So this morning I had an OMG, YOU'RE SO STUPID!! moment. I had to go back to this customer for a different problem and of course they were asking about the CQ issue. (Told them I'm waiting for the new laser to come in.) So, for giggles I looked at the transfer roller again. Not sure why, but I pushed on the front side of it and then the rear side and I noticed that there was much more spring tension on the front. I removed the roller again and looked at the white caps that push on the transfer assembly and noticed that the rear one was not sticking out as far as the front one. Took out a stubby flathead and turned the cap and, of course, it popped out to the proper position! Problem solved!! My ass is going to be black and blue for a long time. Still kicking myself.

Thanks all for your input and help. Sorry to waste your time.

No need to apologize; thanks for your confession, the explanation of the fix might help out another tech.
Sometimes, it takes a third or forth look at the problem before it becomes obvious.

You just gained a lot of credibility in my eyes. This kind of honesty is hard to come by.

                    Congratulations! =^..^=
