Re: 1 1/2 inch black to fade band when using adf
i would check to see if the width guides are correct.what i mean by this is on a blank sheet of paper make points on the paper all a round ^ and run it off the glass and then run it thru the df.if the ^ dont look the same.i would adjust the df width guide useing test command 53-6.you might have to replace the adjable resister that adj the width guides.good luck.Comment

Re: 1 1/2 inch black to fade band when using adf
I've seen something similar on a Tiger or Jupiter. In my case the SPF white plate was mis-aligned with the slit glass. The tech had done it to compensate for a SPF skew by adjusting the right SPF hinge, but instead had screwed up the image quality.
On the AR-EF1 and AR-EF3 I took my ruler and measured the edge of the white mylar guide to the edge of the slit glass at the front and at the back of the machine. Obviously it's fairly easy to read the ruler at the front, but it's kind of tricky to read the ruler at the rear with the SPF mostly closed.
Another way to get is fairly close is to just line up the corners of the SPF with the top cover of the machine. It's less accurate, but should get you to a usable position. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
