It's usually the interface cable between the fax unit and the MFP board. Dump the copier and keep the bad cable!

There is a separate power switch on the fax option, and it could be Off.

If the switch is On the connecting cable could be loose, poorly connected, or maybe smashed-slammed into a doorway. Be sure to turn Off facsimile power and machine power before re-seating or repairing connectors. You can easily blow the MFP PWB.

All that being said, the Whale wasn't much of a color copier, and it's getting long in the tooth. And the color quality is really inconsistent, and the AIO cartridges are really expensive, and they're really difficult to calibrate, ... (can I stop now?).

There are much better ways to spend the copier budget than on this machine. =^..^=

Upgrade them to a Ricoh. The ARB 260 is a POS.

I do agree with a eariler poster, sell them something new, try and re-plugging the fax unit back in, it's the kind that I think mounts on a back rail, and a big connector to the back of the machine, finisher sorta same way, should be plug and play, least the last time I worked on them POS's I seem to recall it being plug and play.

Check power supply outputs to Fax Pwb and Finisher.

Sell them a new machine! Fixes all your problems.

In all seriousness however, my service manual doesn't tell me what model the fax expansion for that machine is?
