    Developer Noise - Sharp MXM3501N

I've got an issue with one of the DV Units - I have a clicking noise that I am pretty sure is one of the DV Units. Issue I'm having is that I ran into this before but cannot remember or find my notes on how to set the system up so that I can individually check each Unit to issolate and find out which one is bad.

    Any help would be appreciate.

    Thank you.

I'm assuming that you mean the MX3501N; run TC 25-1 and choose each color individually.
Sorry, I'm wrong on this one; with TC 25-2, you can choose individual dv units.

I actually figured it out. What I wanted to do was issolate the Dev Units. The way I was able to do this was to go to SIMMs 7 Sub 1 and there I can actually disable things, pulling all the Dev Units out, put one in at a time to figure out which one is giving me the issue. You can actually pull one out at a time, too, to see if the noise goes away. The issue persisted - I took out the Transfer Unit and the noise went away - however, I put another Transfer Unit in and still had the Clicking noise. I took out the Transfer Unit and hand turn the two gears in the rear of the machine - and the Transfer Unit itself. It was only when I did this that everything went okay.

I had SharpTech Support tell me in the past that I needed to change out the Main Drive Unit. I found out that it was a Dev Unit - but I didn't have the info above then. I was extremely lucky. Ever change out a Main Drive Unit on an MX3501N?

      Thank you for your help.

Well done: I have replaced the main drive before (L4-06, I think), and after the first one, it's not too bad.

If the problem is with a developer unit, usually its the black one since its got the most pages on it. Belts on back get worn and slack, bushing on shaft between the two belts should be replaced too; unless you want to buy the DV unit of course. The shaft will be worn where the bushing rides (brass color) but not much you can do but clean, lube and install).
          belt (inner) NBLTH0445FCZ1
          bushing (MG holder) CHLDZ1680FC02
          belt (outer) NBLTH0494FCZZ
          DID pulley CPLYZ0471FC04
The first two would be mandatory, second two recommended depending on wear. It's a quick fix with the right parts on hand. PS: MX-2300/2700 parts are different.

Re: Developer Noise - Sharp MXM3501N

I thought I arrested the clicking issue, but a call today, client saying that the issue is back. But it isn't the Dev Units. They checked out good.
When I pulled the Tranfer Unit during test, the clicking noise went away.

What I did that seemed to do the trick - stopping the clicking noise, was to hand turn the gears for the Transfer Unit - back of copier, and then things were good. Something is binding up - supply? to cause this issue -

            Still stuck with an issue.

            Any input appreciated.

This may be completely off base, but what about this?:
