    AR-M450 problems

    Hello!

We have an AR-M450 that has the following firmeware revs; PCU 9.04.00 - MAIN mj.10, - BOOT m5.03A - SCANNER 06.04.00

The problem we are having is it will not print envelopes. The text is 90 degrees rotated clockwise. We have tried the bypass tray and the second paper tray which give the same results. We have tried every envelope setting in print properties with no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

So when you say it doesn't print envelopes, it really does print envelopes, the printing is just not oriented the way you want.

    1) Envelopes can only be printed from Tray #2, and with limited success at that. Many of these Tigers do not even have a bypass (it's an option), that is why tray #2 is designated.
    2) Use only COM10 envelopes that lay flat in the tray (not the potato-chip effect~~), face up, and do not load more than 1" total depth in the tray.
    3) Orient the envelopes the R direction (the long way) with the flap closed.
    4) Do not use glossy or coated paper envelopes. The tires will get contaminated quickly.

Now, what application are you using to print from, and do you have any configuration that you can do in the application or driver to correct this problem?

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Well, yes, heh heh, you are right it just prints skeewampus. I will try to explain.

We have tried your suggestions 1-4 out of Word 2003 which has many options. In Word, under Tools - Letters and Mailings - Envelopes and Labels - Then under Envelope Feed Options you can choose which way the envelope is fed, Left, Middle or Center, Long or Short end first and upside down or right side up. No matter which way we try it always prints wrong. You can also choose to use the bypass tray, which we have, or tray two. There are no envelope print settings in the general windows print properties.

The text is rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise meaning the return address is on the left side like normal but is is going up and down instead of left to right. The delivery address is in the middle of the envelope as it should be but you can only see the extreme left side of the text also going up and down instead of left to right on the very top middle of the envelope.

The envelopes are loaded the long way (left to right) because if you load them the short way (up and down), which would work because that is the way it is printing, it will jam.

A few basic questions... have you put the tray settings for tray 2 to envelope and it's size at the copier? Also, in your printer properties, have you set tray 2 for envelopes and it's size? Are you able to do a print preview from Word 2003?

Good questions! I should have thought of those.....

Yes all these are set correctly. You cannot do a print preview from the envelope print properties in word 2003.

I cannot figure why this is happening. Also the paper path is just too long to print envelopes reliably. I think I'll just stick to printing envelopes on my cannon desktop all in one laser. =(
