[Error Code] MX-B201D fax error new setups

Hey all, I'm running into an issue today that I'm hoping someone has seen before. I set up a new MXB201D with an NB-11 and an FX12. I've set up anbout 12 of these in the past week without any issues. Then last evening I set one up and it faxes out fine but when it tries to receive it errors out. It picks up, and after a couple seconds it hangs up and gives 3 beeps, and the sending machine shows NG020023. Ok, I tried another fax unit, nope, another NB11, nope. Ok, new machine and new parts, same issue. Tried a THIRD machine, with a new fax, and a new NB11, same beeps, same error. I tried different fax lines (in another part of the buiilding), tried image memory clear, and 66-3 fax memory check, which says ok on the modem and ok on the flash memory.
I've revieded the error codes and I'll have to look into those further, but I find it odd that all of a sudden, all of the machines are failing?

Any ideas? I'm fixing to call the hotline in about an hour when I have time.

Try turning off error correction mode (ECM) and see what your results are. I can't say I've had this specific problem, but I do deal with faxes in a lot of boonie communities that don't have the greatest phone lines. ECM is usually the culprit when there are fax problems. The lines are good enough to transmit, but bad enough to give it some difficulty when it tries to correct the problem causing them to have some bizarre issues akin to your post.

Solved::

Short answer, firmware, long answer, yes we always do firmware, however, the machine fax firmware coming in, is higher than what sharp has on IDNC (shipped with 2.03, we downgraded to 2.01) oddly Sharps firmware must have corrupted, but in such a way as to only affect incoming faxes. Might wanna watch out for that, I'm not sure how many machines sharp sent with bad 2.03 fax firmware.

I did my one and only 201 not but a few weeks ago. My own shipped with 1.00 firmware and had to be updated.

I am trying to download the firmware on a mxb201d. The maint utility only shows the copier is off. I have tried it in win 7 and in xp mode. I cant get it to load the driver for the "ar-download" device.



Ive done firmware through xp mode on the 314 317 200d machines through serial ports

but this one is killing me.

so it looks like to upgrade the fax on this machine i only need the fax firmware on a usb and I go to 49_2.

I changed the fax firmware I had from fdl (i think) to .spf and A-Jaguar.spf. Both times it says there is no script and it cant load firmware.

Can someone please send me the fax firmware to load and confirm im going about it correctly.

All flash drive firmware upgrades need to be performed on a device formatted to FAT16 or FAT32 format. NTFS WILL NOT WORK!

This particular firmware upgrade still requires the serial connection actually. You were on the right track, just follow the directions in the manual and it should work for you. I have seen DSL lines that are able to fax out OK, but will not receive unless set to answer after 0 or 1 ring.

The spf file is the only file on the usb drive and renamed to A-Jaguar.spf(no other files can be on the usb , my usb drive is 2gb and fat32). go into sim 49-2, press start, insert usb drive into copier, the screen will show no script file , then switch to begin spf update, wait about 2min 30sec(according to instructions that comes with the fw file. ) Wait for the screen to show download mode download complete , then turn of copier and remove usb memory.

The latest fw on sharp idnc as 3 folders when the zip is extracted, maint folder (software for upgrade main body and instructions) folder with main body fw(dwl file) and folder with network bd/fax bd fw (spf file ,for usb thumb drive) this folder also has the dwl file in it but the dwl file still must be used with the maint utility software.

Thank you. I'll try a new sick. This one may just be on its way out. I always format my sticks to fat for Sharp. 32 doesn't work on old machines, but fat works on newer machines.
