I have a customer with older ARM350/Imagistics IM3510 that randomly (maybe 1 good page out of 5) has black scans/copies when using the ADF feeder. Some are completely black others start off with image and then 2/3 of page are black with no image at all. Cannot reproduce using flatbed. Prints are fine. I assume it is in scanner section, but is it board/cables/lamp. I don't think it is lamp because cannot reproduce using flatbed, but I have been wrong before.
ARM350 black copy or scan thru ADF. Prints OK and flatbed copy ok.

My guess is that the scanner is not getting to, or not staying aligned with the slit glass. Are you getting line blurrs in scans made from the glass? I'd look at traditional things like: clean and lubricated scanner rails, drive cables-belts-pulleys, obstacles to scanner motion.
There is a known quality problem with the AR-EF1 document feeder only when scanning with the document feeder, but is doesn't sound like your problem:
Digital image breakup on 2nd side only of 2 to 2 duplex. Missing elements from first copy appear on next consecutive 2nd side (even with a different original). Broken up image is reduced by from 55% to 95% in feed direction only, crossfeed is always 100%. Defective DSPF harnass. Replace the DSPF harnass (DHAI-3166FC11).
=^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

You may want to adjust sim 53-8 had one giving issues and this fixed issue adjusting far enough made it act up more often. This has to do with stop posistion of scanner. Good luckComment

Is this the internal report print, or a copy or the report? It makes a difference. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

Re: ARM350 black copy or scan thru ADF. Prints OK and flatbed copy ok.
Here's your short list: lamp, inverter, lamp cable.
As a test you should be able to go into simulation, remove the glass, then illuminate the lamp.
Does it light, does it flicker, does it stay off? If it lights and stays lit, try moving the scanner cable to see if it will go out or flicker.
