Sharp ARM-355n PWB or Power Fail....

Have one of these in the field that upon start up shows the sharp logo for about 5 seconds (active swirling of the stars ect) then freezes the display....then a clunk, then turns on all the fans except the LSU fans and then proceeds to sound like it is warming up fuser ect in a normal way but copier does not respond to any inputs (no way to get to service mode).

Probably related to a power surge over some weekend. Question is: Any hints on the sequence above about which PWB might have failed? The fuses all look fine on the boards although one cartridge fuse is not clear glass (does not appear to be crazed from blowing but designed that way) and I have not been able to find any "boot sequence" in the service manual. Just hate to quote a main (PCU) PWB if there is some other pwb involved.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Try powering on with the front door open; will it boot to a display "Close front door"? If so, run diagnostics and check HDD operation.

Unplug the Doc feed cable to the MFP board, I think the box should then respond as an ARP-355 (with the display on the small LCD), but I haven't tried it in awhile.

its sounds like the controller is bad to me. but i have had a power supply cause a 355/455 to start power up, turn off then power up again over and over, then finally quit completely, but there was nothing on the screen

also u dont have the little screen on the 355/455 like they did on the 350/450 so cant really try it as an p model

Thanks, Silvertoast, for that correction - I should have researched that a bit more.

i faced the problem before. i just replaced the fuse 800mA. the fuse located at mother board.you pull out the mfp board, and you can look inside got two fuses in the small connector board.
