    Sharp MX-2640N Firmware Update

    Hi everyone,

Yesterday I was trying to update the firmware on our customers Sharp MX-2640N MFP's. They have two 2640's and neither would update. When selecting the file to start the procedure in the simulation mode, a message at the top of the screen says Model Not Match. Prior to trying to update these, I was at another customer site and successfully updated their firmware on two of their MX-2640N's using the same exact file. I tried downloading the file again, and downloading an older firmware update. However, both files still gave the Model Not Match message. Has anyone dealt with this before, or have any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

Are there Data Security kits installed on these machines? If so, you would need the DSK firmware. It'd be the MX-FR41U firmware.

You can check by looking at Sim22-10.

I would say there's DSK on the machine for "Model Not Matched" so your need the MX-2640N DSK Firmware, I believe its version 02.02.Ad.

Print a 22-06 out and the first page at the top will tell you, it will also give you all the version numbers.

Do you have user authentication enabled? Authentication will block firmware from loading correctly on a Polaris. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Our friend assures me that authentication being On should have nothing to do with a successful or unsuccessful firmware update. =^..^=

First one, if it break the law, I apologize for that.
For me, I don't think it is out law.
For regular printer, I always update the firmware myself.
I got this sharp 2640 printer from my company which it close its business. I just can't find the update like other printers.
For a good printer, it doesn't make any sense to hire a pro tech to finish a basic function for almost every printer now.
Maybe for you, you think this is a BIG project. But for all customers, it is a basic function even for my home small printer.
And it is a so easy job. Even some printers provide update online by themselves only require a click.

So if my question offend to you, I am sorry. But don't be so rude. No body like you to think everyone like to break a law.
For tech nerd, take it easy. If sharp treat all his customers to do the every single step have to through a technician, it will go just like Nokia, nobody would bought it again.

Hello, I hope somebody can help me. I got a 2640 as a gift.

But this device has two flaws.

                            1. I can't get to the settings.

                            2. The HDD was defective. I have now replaced the HDD.

Does anyone have the software for the CF card and SD card?

Why can't I get into the settings of the device?
