    MX-5001N Jamming

I am constantly fighting a jamming issue with one of these systems. The issue is that the copier is jamming from all the trays except for the external large capacity feeder. I have recently replaced the drive assy. for all the trays and all the tires in the trays. The paper keeps stopping right immediately below and other times its stopping at the registration roller with some paper buckle present. I have ordered a new registration roller and registration motor but, I was wondering if anyone else happened to have any ideas as to what could be going on. I'm assuming that at the least the registration roller could be worn down just enough that it would still allow for the LCF paper to come through without much problem because of the more direct path than when the papers coming out of the tray. This is just becoming a frustrating problem.

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Re: MX-5001N Jamming

On this model, they have relective sensors. On the right door, they have black sheets that collects paper dust. I have cleaned the black sheets and eliminated my jamming. I try to clean at every call to avoid this issue. There is a bulletin on this and refers to CPFD1_S, etc jams, MFP-TB-527. The bulletin seems to be to much work and I just keep up with the cleaning.

I have also seen on the MX-5111 having a bad sensor, but would test fine in sims. I swapped with another sensor and tested fine. It had something to do with noise interference. There was a bulletin on this issue, but not sure what the bulletin is.

        What jam code(s)? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I have seen these jam if the energy settings were set up to 240 mins.
The right door and the exit assembly above the fuser have sensors and actuator arms that go bad from the heat, the arms get deformed and stick, and the sensors randomly don't read the arm as it goes by. If the right inside of the door is turning brown it may have been overheated. Hope this helps.

We pulled out the ps unit and cleaned it very throughly and replaced the ps roller. That seemed to do the trick!

One time my car wasn't running right so I replaced the engine, transmission, ball joints, radiator, and hub caps.
Turned out I was very low on oil

I am not changing parts to just change parts. This copier has been a problem for a while now and its one of only 5 sharp copiers in my area. I only have around a year experience and I know that I have quite a bit left to learn in this career field. For those of you that actually helped with advice for the issue, thank you very much.

                  Re: MX-5001N Jamming

I'm glad it worked for you, but I have to insist on a jam code before commenting on anything. The jam code provides you two things:

                  1) It points you towards a sensor or series of sensors, an area of the machine.
                  2) It provides a reference, so if it ever comes up again we can fix it again, without replacing every part on the machine.

So for your experience to have any future value: what jam code?
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                  1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                  2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                  3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                  4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                  5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Replace the updated ppd sensor and the lower right door at the same time as per the tech pub. If that don't work let us know.
