    Flash Images, Sharp ARC270 (Bear)

    Hello,

We have been sitting on a Sharp ARC270, it gets stuck in bootup and will not progress. I accidentally hit the power switch tonight and got a U0-00 error code. I could not find the error code (I admittedly did not look all that hard) but I am sure it is the same problem. We already replaced the drive (we made a low level copy of the old drive). Now I am looking to just re-flash all of the modules as I am convinced that is the issue.
We called both our "local" service centers and they flat out refuse to do it without sending someone out which I am not opposed to but they do not sound as though they were knowledgable, it scares me when they really present themselves as to have no clue about our copier. The truth is, if we were not sitting on a couple thousand dollars of supplies we would toss the unit as it seems to be very difficult to maintain (it took us a few hundred dollars of various parts and a whole lot of time (60 hours ish) and a lot of test paper and toner to get it to produce good color output, and we enjoyed that for a while (about 4k copies) but then we hit the boot problem
We see that we can get a kit for programming the chips for $160 but we need the images or the programmer is worthless. Is anyone willing to get those images for us or even flash the chips themselves (will the drive need to be re-imaged with new chips?) We are willing to pay someone to flash (hmm, that does not sound quite right but it is the truth )

Many, many thanks in advance ...

PS - What is the going rate for one of these working, does anyone know? We might just decide to sell it, I think we paid $3500 for it with shipping, now we know why it was so cheap ..... and now the big loaded question ... what is the best used duplex ledger format color copier or printer out there in terms of durability, maintainability, CPP, and with some regard to initial price .... we would have approx a 4k 11x17 duplex monthly usage

I see you haven't had any responses yet.

Anyone who can flash those Eeproms for you is probably smart enough to know that it will be difficult to guarranty 30 days of trouble free copying on that machine, and won't want to touch it.

Even new, Bears were troublesome, and required a lot of service and expensive parts to maintain.

U0-00 is Operation control PWB to PCU Main PWB communication trouble. It could be a firmware problem, or you might just have a loose connector either at the operation panel, or at the PCU. I would probably start by just re-seating each of the connectors on these boards, than see if it clears when powered on. No special reset is required for this code.

    Good Luck.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
