[CQ] Sharp MX4501 Color Quality issues. Black ok.

I have an MX4501N with color quality issues on both copy and print. I have replaced all color DV units (due to a separate mag roller issue), DV, drum units, primary and secondary transfer units. The main drive unit is only 6 months old. Tried to calibrate, but TC 50-22 fails. Tried adjusting black LSU skew, setting defaults with TC 50-20, but still have a density/quality issue. Called Sharp and was told LSU, but I'm open to other suggestions.

50-22 can and will fail if the main drive gear of the transfer belt is broken. I've had belts with sub 5k copies on them break the back of the gear and it spins in place.

If your gear is good, I'd side with sharp that it's the LSU. Make sure your alignment pin is centered as a start and continue fiddling until your 50-22 works. Those lasers are a real pain in the ass to reset if they've been horribly misaligned.

Yeah, I put a brand new primary belt unit and still got the same results. I think I adjusted that slide for an hour before I gave up and ordered a new LSU. Going to try to install it today if it comes in.

Pretty sure it was an issue with non OEM toners. The other tech here had the same issue on a different machine (same model). He replaced the dv and put in Sharp toners and that did the trick. My customer decided to get a new copier before I was able to try it on this model.

Do you remember he detail code when 50-22 failed? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

In my experience with 50-22 it will give (main/sub + colour + front/rear + value) as the error, none of which is terribly specific aside from what colour is having the fault.

It was a sub magenta code. Don't remember the number. All of the color images were "washed out", but the magenta was the worse.

RE comp toners on color machines.

From our experience. We have never seen good results on machines where customers have been using comp for Copiers ANY MANUFACTURE copiers all seem to need OEM.

Now for some reason with smaller printers HP OKI etc. we see (when a good quality re manufacturer such as MSE etc) then they seem to be ok. Not certain why. All we know is NEVER use comp color toners on larger copiers
