    sHARP mx 3640

I have a MX3640 which has a squeaking noise which i am unable to find, just wondered if anyone had had any similar issues with this model. I have gone through the usual checks.

    Thanks in advance

By the 'usual checks', do you mean the load test to isolate where the squeak is generated?

What are the usual checks? Specify please.

For me, the usual checks are to run the motors individually for in service mode, until I find the one that's chirping or squealing, or whatever sound you're seeking. Sharp doesn't make this particularly easy, like putting all the motor simulations together in one group, but they do use a convention. Look for the x-1 or x-3 (sub one or sub three) simulation under each of the major groups. If I were you, I'd print off this list that I've looked up for you, and individually run the motors:

      Scanner 1-1, 1-5
      ADF/RADF: 2-3
      Finisher Motors: 3-3
      Desk Motors: 4-3
      Engine Motors:6-1
      Duplex (ADUM): 9-3
Toner Supply (remove toner cartridges before running): 10-1
Developing (remove toner cartridges before running): 25-1

Actually I would have skipped right to looking them up for myself, then ran the motors.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

check idnc for 3640 bulletin, there was an update due to excessive toner build up on the web causing a noise. Also check paper feed drive unit, they have been squeakers on a few machine series.

I'm with faxman on this. Check the fuser web sticking to the belt causing it to squeak. Have had this happen on both of our 3140's and I believe the fuser is the same.

          Good luck.

There is a known issue with the fuser web. The fix is to route the web over the silver rod instead of under it to keep the web from stalling.

              Hi there,
does it have an internal finisher? If so the rear bearing sweek.
ive also had the bearing at the bottom rear of right door doing it when feeding.
bit of oil a spot on.
