I bought a used Sharp MX-2700 this week. When it arrived I ran copies and they were washed out and terrible. I inspected the machine and pulled out the transfer belt which looked fairly new. When I put it back together I noticed that the clutch was not camming up the belt. Blank copies, I manually turned the screw in the front and I again had crappy copies. I replaced the main drive unit and cam now works but still crappy copies. I then replaced the main transfer belt, copies now look great. Is the issue a calibration issue or does something go bad on the belts. I have seen some belts that look pretty worn but copies look fine. I inspected the rollers and they look fine too. Any comments would be much appreciated. Have a great 4th eveyone.

Re: Sharp MX-2700 transfer belts
This series is notorious for having less than desirable copy quality. Best bet is to do a colour calibration and see if that brings it up to spec, but beyond that the only solution (and it's at best a temporary one) is to replace developer and recalibrate.

Re: Sharp MX-2700 transfer belts
LSU slots might be dirty too, be sure to clean them. Also, see if secondary transfer belt is stiff or has any dimples on the edges where the tracks are, if so it may self destruct. They do not age well and can also cause poor image.Comment
