      Here's the "for dummies" version.

      SMTP server smtp.gmail.com
      Port 587

Get an email address and password, then put them in, dummy.

Well, Gmail used to always be 465/SSL but now I had to use 587, AT&T used to be 587 but then I had to use 25 WITH SSL; geez, gotta make more friggin work for us all the time, they never notify anyone when they decide to change things (and that means you too Comcast !)
Then there was the new Comcast digital fax line that would hang up on an FXX1 fax box until we switched the 4-conductor phone line to a 2 conductor...love my job

I always use the 2 wire cords; ALWAYS. Also have a dozen backups in the trunk just in case.
If it is hard wired behind a wall, I tell them no guarantees for that fax line.
That being said, 2 or 4 wires only get you so far on a digital or VOIP fax line.

And now for something completely off topic....

Toner Boy, ever see Lemmy: The Movie...?
Your avatar made me think of it. It has been running on Showtime as of late.

                  Re: GMAIL Configuration in MX-2310U

Google gmail sometimes has some hickups with MS Outlook and setting up for gmail accounts.

pop or imap. Google gmail combines both into one.

                  incoming server :
                  imap.gmail.com
                  SSL
                  port 993

                  outgoing server :
                  smtp.gmail.com
                  SSL/TTL
                  port
                  465

                  in a Dos window
ping imap.gmail.com -a for address resolve IP
ping smtp.gmail.com. -a for address resolve IP
