mx 2300n question. b&w print when color is empty

Just wondering how you can get a machine to print in black and white when say the yellow toner is empty? can this be done on the 2300n? and how?

He means in the print driver printer properties I believe. However if the toner is empty I do not think you can print or copy anything. I'm pretty sure you must replace the toner to get it operational again.

        Good luck.

PS Would really be interested if you did find a work around for this. We default all of our color machines to B/W in the print driver settings and they all stop printing when out of any toner.

Install a cartridge of toner of the color that is empty. It works every time. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Sharp disallows print for many reasons.. PM prompts, toner out, etc..
There is a setting (can't exactly recall if in SIMS.. service mode) that can be changed to allow printing..

As far as I know when it's out of one color the entire machine stops. If there is a way to work around this I would love to know. We have a couple of "toner emergencies" a week that we could avoid.

I've got several how-tos for all kinds of things Sharp on our company website, one of them is defaulting to TRUE B&W, not process black. www.equipmybiz.com

I looked for a enable/disable print setting but couldn't find one. According to the users manual they will continue to print B/W if a color toner is out. Personally I've never noticed one way or the other.

Copied and pasted from MX 2300N Users GuideIf any one of the toner colours runs out (including black toner), colour copying will not be possible. If Y, M, or C toner runs
out but Bk toner remains, black and white copying will still be possible.

Go to Admin mode, under device control there is "disabling of colour mode". This allow the copier to work B\W when you have an error code related to colour. Not sure if this work with 'out of toner" issue too. To reactivate colour mode when issue is solve you need to do a sim14.
If this work and you dont want to go on site to do the sim 14 you can instruct your customer to do the "limited test command" by using 9,*,8,#,7, . It look exactly like the regular sim but you can only access a few like the reset one 13 to 17.
