I have a version of the firmware. How can you tell what color dot it is? If I skip loading the scanner firmware will the machine function?

... if you do it correctly, yes. Follow the procedure in the manual, and just de-select the the scanner firmware. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks. I can do that. I will attempt it tomorrow. I'm just going to reread the procedure.

Reed, have you tried reformatting the HDD on this 203L? You should be able to reformat this one without having to reload firmware. You can use a 40, 60, 80gb, etc., PATA HDD in those machines.

Thanks everyone for all the information and help. I will never attempt to clone another drive with wipe technology. Thanks to my friend in Bangla Desh who supplied me with the correct dot color firmware. Everything went very smoothly as it should. I won't make that mistake again.

Kindly, if the firmware is still available with you? Could you send it for me?
