    E studio 230 l

So, I know Kyo;Sharp;Canon;Ricoh;HP; Lexmark inside out and my mate calls me out of the blue with a TOSH question!

So he wants so scan to his PC and network print. Looking at the spec sheet it looks like an optional licenced features.

Is this right? If so where on the machine do I go to check what features he has enabled?

    Thanks

Yes, the scan and print options require a dongle. And at it's current age, it won't be long before it can't be fixed. Parts have been obsolete since 2015. I think I'd concentrate on upgrading them to something that can be fixed. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Thanks blackcat,

So no gotchas to getting a second hand print and scan option? They don't get paired to the machines at install?

I hear you about the age of the machine; but if I if I get him something newer then he would expect me to fix it.

When it comes to repair time hopefully his business will be big enough to be worth leasing him him something, or give him a hand me down something that is newer on T&M

No they do not marry to the machine. If you find a used dongle it should work as is. =^..^=

I have the dongle and you can get them on e-bay. All the parts besides system board, hard drive, and logic board are the same as 202l,203l and are readily available. Install usb dongle/ add driver set ip address then print/scan to hard drive of copier just create shortcut on desktop \\192.169.1.50\file_share that was an example address. You get into admin 123456 top access web based utility to set up direct scan by type in local browser such as control panel the ip address then admin then 123456 then go to administration then save as file and enter network path to desktop folder. Set folder to archive then set permissions to everyone then under security of folder set "everyone" full control then share folder and make sure network discovery and file sharing are on
