    Toshiba 1600 firmware

Just an FYI...Toshiba has released version 1600 firmware. If you use a "compatible" toner after updating,
the machine will not print and will say "toner not recognized Y,M,C,K" depending on which toner is not an
OEM toner. If you downgrade the firmware back to 1512, the compatible toner works. (We use Katun
from time to time because Toshiba is VERY expensive). Don't know about other brands.
Also, be careful if you have a machine that has 1600 out of the box. Apparently the maker of the CCD
unit for the lens assembly, could not produce the part so it was sourced from a diffrent vendor, thus the
firmware for the lens is different.
Not sure if this will end up being a replay of the 455 no dot, red dot, yellow dot scanner firmware or not.
but you cannot downgrade from 1600 if that is what it came with.
I haven't seen any yet coming with 1600. Heck, we just started receiving ones that have 1512 just a few
weeks ago. Most still have 1508.
Also, not sure if you did downgrade from 1600 to 1512 and UNCHECK the lens firmware, if it would work,
similar to the 455 era where you just skipped updating the lens.

... interesting that V1600 locks out non OEM toner.

I do not find the Toshiba original toner to be any more expensive compared to other vendor's OEM toners.

All copy/print vendors due to COVID and global logistic issues are struggling for revenue so they have a right to protect their proprietary technology.

Well, one of the service guys came up and said this: When you buy a car, are you required to use a certain type of fuel, oil, tires etc?
Yeah, I get it, but, I remember Lexmark back in 2017 was sued for something similar with ink jet cartridges being "refilled".
Also, HP was sued in 2016 for "locking out" printers unless they used genuine HP cartridges.

... bad analogy. You are not buying a car. If someone wants to sue for damages, let them try.

The HP and Lexmark legal actions were both about consumer inkjet products not commercial toner maintenance contract technologies.

Did you say what model this includes? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

            All eBN/EBN2 models. Not Toshmarks.

Introduces a "Remote Assistance Menu" button on the LCD panel giving you Logs Transmission/Remote Service/ Remote Panel Operation.

I think the buttons are greyed out until the copier connects to eCloud Connect.

... also Microsoft Universal Cloud print.

Yeah, noticed the polices in the cloud are gray. I was told there was suppose to be some sort of
webinar or something for sales, regarding "new features" with Elevate among other items.
