    e2505AC C020 Error

I know this error is related to one of the Developer Drive units not being able to rotate.

I removed all four developer units and can rotate the two prong circular gear at the back of each developer unit.

I have tried FS -03 -112/ 162 to start/stop the motor but this test is non responsive. None of the four motors start.

I want to test the Logic board but do not know the procedure.

    Please advise.

    Thanks,

    M6.jpg

I know how I would go at this. I would remove M6, but leave the wire harness attached (check J651 at M6, CN327B at the logic board). I would test it in FS-03 112/162. If the motor turns (even for only a few seconds), I would examine the developer drive unit.

If the motor does not turn at all, I would order PWA-H-LGC, and DRM/TBU-MOT M6. Most likely M6 has blown the drive circuits on the logic board. If you were to change the board first, most likely it would blow the board again. So change both in the same operation.

I know that this sounds like an expensive approach, but it could cost twice as much if you blow the logic board again.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I concur with black cat. The 05 series had issues with the developer drive. We've had a couple of them do that, along with the developer units as well.

It's most likely a developer unit is blocked (gears broken). Remove the units and turn them by hand.

The error message suddenly turned to CA10 meaning Laser unit error.

A week or two ago, I removed the laser unit from the same copier to clean the 4x laser slit glass.

I thought I securely seated all of the cables.

So I tried again and voila! the copier came back to life. Issue resolved.

            Thanks for your help.

Can you give a logical explanation why a laser issue might present as C020 (developer drive)? I don't see the connection ... unless they are somehow on the same 5vdc or 24vdc line of the power supply (?)

These machines do have some strange laser issues, usually presenting as poor color registration that either won't correct or comes back quickly.

Ironically, had the same issue on a 4505 last week, poorly seat LSU cable causing C020. This is the main harness on the unit, not the 2 / 3 ribbon cables for the pwb on the laser unit.
I agree it is very odd, and I was able to run DV and drum motor in service mode without issue.
It first came to Ready state then C020 at first copy, After that, immediate C020 at power-on until LSU harness was re-seated.

If/when you get something WEIRD like this, and instead of the code telling you one thing, but reconnecting something unrelated corrects it, it might be
a good idea to call the hotline and report it. If anything else, they will have it on report in case it happens to someone else. 😉
