    3005ac paper jams on double sided prints, e910 bridge exit sensor / adu door latch

    Hello, I’ve been working with this Toshiba eStudio 3005ac for a few years, now getting e910 and e510 paper jam errors. It works fine single sided prints to the exit tray, but double sided prints or using the booklet finisher, it often fails: paper crumples up as soon as it comes out the fuser, looks like it’s not making it in between the rollers near the paper exit/reverse section. Strangely, when it is working jam free to the exit tray destination, like 1 out of every 6 pages will actually be sent up to the bridge unit transports, where it stops and collects into an unordered stack instead of going to the exit tray or the finisher.
    Pretty sure the paper jam errors started round the same time that the ADU door lever broke - the left notch that hooks the door close broke, so it is only held by the right hook, so the whole left side door now sticks out at an uneven angle. I’ve been pushing a chair/door to try to keep the door closed and flush which seems to get double sided working a third of the time if I’m precise enough, looks like ads lever is part #6LJ57393100 out of stock on PR anyone got another source or an extra? I’m wondering whether it’s a simple door latch replacement or if I do gotta start replacing sensors or the reverse gate solenoid or something. Any help appreciated, thanks!

    Defiantly find a replacement latch...also the reverse gate warps, had a few updates, solenoid falls out, entire exit assembly had updates, cushions turn sticky, the white guide rollers holding springs mounts can break. I would see if you can get ahold of all the bulletins and see where your machine is at updated part wise. Once I got all mine out in the field fully updated, those types of jams mostly went away.

      Those were all the things I was going to say, but maybe I'll phrase it differently.

      E910:
      *duplex gate solenoid fell off
      *(lol) last tech forgot to install bearing 6803Z in the heat sleeve gear. It causes the fuser to destroy itself in a week (thankfully it wasn't me)
      *worn fuser internal gears
      *teflon sheet inside the fuser sleeve has gone sticky, slowing paper speed

      E510
      *duplex idler rollers fall off, or have no spring pressure
      *bridge unit is not aligned on its alignment post when initially installed.
      *duplex gate warped, broken, or sticking

      Definitely get that handle fixed. It's more a consequence of the customer removing a lot of jams, than a cause.
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

        Also since this is the 05 series, check the bushings in the exit unit. They use to use this black grease in the bushing areas, to prevent moisture
        from possibly building up during shipping. Unfortunately, that grease, that close to the fuser unit, would bake onto the exit roller shaft & the bushing
        causing a slight slow down in speed of the exit unit. Sometimes you couldn't get the bushing out without a lot of chemical solvent & brute force.
        Had a few that it actually cut a slight groove into the exit roller shaft.

            Thanks for the feedback ... I've been relying on the service manual and yall advice for years but I don't have access to any of the bulletins: if anyone wants to share that would be amazing. The replacement door latch is ordered and will take a few weeks to arrive. I took a look at the rollers, idle rollers still have spring pressure, doesn't appear warped though shaft doesn't appear to turn too easily. I took a look at the reverse section and the solenoid / plunger, and posted a short video linked below because I'm not sure but I'm thinking it is something mechanical with the shutter, it often is clicked 'shut' until I nudge / unsnap it, then the shutter/plunger can interact with some tension, though I'm also not sure if the other spring keeping the shutter closed has enough pressure to keep it closed? this second video shows what I observed after I put it back in the unit, how the gate was slightly touching one of the rollers, until I raised and screwed in the reverse section slightly higher so there's a gap, per the manual, but it's still jamming e910. again if I close door carefully it does double sided to exit tray(not finisher) fine with far less jams, although sometimes it sends about 1 out of 10 pages into that hidden area above the reverse unit which is why I'm thinking something with this reverse gate. hadn't had a chance to look at the LGC screw or the bushings, waiting/hoping to see if maybe the door latch fixes everything.

              The solenoid has a magnetic latch inside, which is why it snaps into place. The solenoid video shows it operating normally.

              The gate rubbing on the roller in the fuser, as you've picked up, is usually due to the height adjustment of the reverse section, making sure both front and rear sides are even. Sometimes when the bushing on the gate is severely worn and rounded, the gate no longer hangs straight and droops slightly (see area marked with red arrow in picture), it looks like it could be worn.

                Got it working again =)
                Replacement door latch arrived - didn't fix the jams
                Like djbass pointed out, It was definitely the exit gate dropping down on the right side, rubbing against rollers...
                Per the manual p351, to increase gap, I raised it slightly, and used the _second_ hole to screw it in the higher position
                No jams, duplexing fine, finishing, no jam after 1000s of pages thanks yall =)
