    eStudio 8518 E570

A day after another tech went out and did a fuser pm, this machine began jamming with the E570 error. All the sensors tested good, and the 2 transport motors as well. After a print job starts, 3 sheets get fed into the machine, the lead sheet stops with about 1/2 an inch of trail edge that hasn't entered the bridge unit.

I was able to go into test print mode and print some single sided pages, and when the machine went back to normal, it was able to print single sided prints without jamming until a duplexed job was printed, now it won't pass paper at all.

Opened a case with Toshiba, they recommend replacement of the DRV board. The other tech will likely be replacing that today, just thought I'd bounce it off the forum, to see if anyone has seen this before

Thanks in advance for your replies,
    Marc

Two possibilities for E570 that I know of:

The first is that the white idler pulleys in the exit may be crumbling. The explanation that I heard is that the bleach used to whiten the paper is released during fusing, creating chlorine gas, which attacks the plastic exit rollers.

If the teflon sheet is not correctly lubricated, the gears that drive the fuser will wear ... but that usually results in E910, E010, or E011 misfeeds. You may also see ovalled out bushings.

Perhaps Rusty might have something else. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Yep, check those white rollers on the fuser & the ones on the entrance to the internal bridge unit. I've seen those as well
      get locked up.

Thanks for the replies, another tech went out for me on a personal day, and told me what he found. He said he replaced the DRV board, but the problem remained. Apparently I overlooked a scrap of paper that was binding the bridge gate unit. He said he removed the paper and it tested fine. <sigh>

... chlorine gas! Is that like WW 1 ! A tech now has to bring a gas mask to work?

Yeah, I thought that was interesting. I imagine that if you were to sit inside the exit section and breath the air there for a couple of years, then you might be in danger. =^..^=
