    Toshiba 2330 - HDD Failed

I have a Toshiba 2330 C which has an error HDD Mount Failed. Purchased a new Hard Drive exact model and size, installed and received the same error. I installed new Firmware, and during the firmware install/update the HDD had an error showing HDD SYS UPDATE FAILED H03.

What could be the main cause of this error, a pc board gone bad?

    Any help would be appreciated.

You need to purchase a Toshiba original SED-HDD (Secure Encrypted Drive). An off the shelf HDD will not work.

Re: Toshiba 2330 - HDD Failed

Back in the "old" days (the 355's were the first that I remember) came with a standard HDD, but you could
swap it out for a standard drive. If you put a wipe drive (Toshiba ADI drive) in it, you then could not revert
back to a standard drive. Wish they would give us the "unknown" 08 code to turn that off so you could
put a SDD on them. Heck, we default to 256 bit encryption anyway.
But, the ADI drives are more profitable for TABS I guess.

And all of this security...is because some dude that owns a network security company went on 60 minutes
decades ago to show how "lacking in security" copiers were.
Yeah, because the owner of the copier was a DOPE, left the password default, stored data on the drive, didn't request
it be wiped or removed and on and on.
Now, we have to put up with all the keys have to match when swapping out board, NVram, Sram, HDD's etc.

Rusty is correct. This is just a standard SATA drive.

Did you format the drive before attempting to load the firmware?

If it will not accept the firmware, it's possible to have a defective system board. The part number is 6LH39933000, if you can find one. Maybe here?:
          Toshiba E-Studio 2330C, 2830C, 3530C, 4520C System Board – Lease Return Copier Sales

          Try formatting the drive first.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Yes formatted the drive before installing, and I was going down the path of the board but wanted a 2nd opinion. I found one on eBay and will wait for it to show up and give it a try

            Thanks

I have the HDD Mount gone with the changed board but now I am getting an error when trying to load the firmware files "Please set correct USB Drive"
