    Black developer between different models

    Hey everyone...looking for some insight from you all. Has anyone tested using new black developer material for other model than what the developer part # is compatible with? Example, using the black developer for a an older model like a E-353 to a E-857 or an E-4508A by making sure it's the correct gram amount of developer for that specific model?

      I've substituted developer between Loire (e Studio 205L, 255, 305, 355, 455), LoireX (e Studio 206L, 256se, 306, 356, 456se, 506), Loire 2X (e Studio 207L, 257se, 307, 357, 457, 507), and Reuss (e Studio 2008A, 2508A, 3008A, 3508A, 4508A, 5008A), without bad consequences.

      I've substituted developer between Masherbrum (e Studio 2020C, 2330C, 2820C, 2830C, 3520C, 3530C, 4520C), & MashX (e Studio 2040C, 2540cse, 3040C, 3540C, 4540cse) ... mostly because 2830C developer could not be found anymore.

      I've also changed color of developer of the same variety. =^..^=
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          Yep, I try to keep it withing "close" series. But, the particle size is pretty much the same anymore. Shoot, wouldn't surprise me if it is all the same.
          Still burns me (it's industry wide) how they charge one price for black, and 3-4-5 times as much for color.

          Use to do the same with drum blades. I'd substitute 5620 drum blades for 7720's and what not. I think TABS got wise to that because it's a bit
          harder to find one that fits some of the other models because they put little notches or cutouts on the ends of the drum blades.
          Same like they do on the 4515AC series that has the "thicker" PET layer on the drum and changed the rear end cap with different groves so it
          won't fit in the color. Never cared to try but I bet if you broke off the tab on the inside of the rear drum area on the machine, it would fit and
          work.
          As far as the amount, if it is "within reason" it should calibrate anyway.

              Thank you for your response. I have a few older models for which DV is discontinued and nearly impossible to locate. I've wondered if anyone else has had success with swapping between models, we've done it very few times between very close models & I think we're going to test with the newer ones too. =)

                  machine specs may have the developer size listed. ie microns

                  Than its just the weight in grams for the correct amount

                      Thanks for sharing! Yes, I've noticed them changing things up a bit recently on drums & fuser rollers too...it's literately the same parts with a tiny change so you can't cross use them and make more money. It really sucks...things would be 1000x better if they had less different parts between models it would be heaven for techs lol.
