    4508 4518 odd paper size

    Ok, missing something.

SALES (I know the 4 letter word) sold a 4518 to a customer that uses an oddball paper
    size.

They TESTED it on a 4508, and found if they selected 8K, it would feed properly.
On the SOLD 4518, the option for 8K is "grayed out" and cannot be selected.
I had them try 08-4100, to set it manually to "8K" (144), but it just goes
    back to test mode.

I had them try setting the paper size manually in the mm range but they said it wouldn't work.

I know there has to be a way to over ride that. APS/AMS didn't work either.
Gettin' old...can't remember what the trick was.

... as a print job you can create a custom paper size under Printer Properties/ Other.

      What's you're precise paper size?

      8K is 10.51in x 15.28in or 260mm x 368mm
08-4100 set to 144 should have worked only until you run out of paper for the first time. It is reset automatically when the tray is re-inserted.

Try 08-4140 to 144 for the bypass. I know that setting will hold.

I've had to do this sort of setting before when I wanted to load LT-R to the bypass, and that particular size is grayed out.

Here is a document I made up to help customers set up non-standard paper sizes to print (in this case #9 envelopes). Maybe it will help:

      On your PC:
Search > Printers & Scanners > open queue > Printers > drop to Properties > Preferences > Other > Custom Paper Size > Add > set A (short dimension in mm: 100) > set B (long dimension in mm: 225) > name the new paper size "Envelopes9" > OK > Apply. When printing select the new custom paper size, select Envelope media type. When the MFP asks for UNIV, load envelopes SEF (short edge first), face down, 12 or less quantity, to the bypass tray (move green handle, insert envelopes, release green lever).

      =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Oh, to add to this...LOL, the customer said their old machine would do it. Well...DUH their old machine was a
455 that didn't detect the paper size in the drawer.
Tech in the field I told to try 08-4118, (8K) and change the numbers to match the length/width of the paper.
Apparently this is a government recorder of deeds or something that uses this goofy size paper.
Another option I told him was 08-4120 which is 8KR.
They said it would feed using the default 8K, but would jam when duplexed.
