    [Error Code] Toshiba e-studios 5540c C390 C3A0

Just bought a used 5540C SE with finisher. $500/400k copies

I know it's an old machine, but it still has some more copies to give.

    I'm getting a C390 error. Call service.

Pulled the EPU tray and checked the connections I could see. Cleaned the sensor under cyan and reinstalled.
Powered on and then got C3A0 error.

Did same procedure with magenta. And the rest at the same time Powered on again and was back at C390.

The machine has not been used for 4 years but had no errors when it was shut off.
It was transported in a trailer but was properly secured.
Of course, there was vibrations and some bumps when loading and unloading. it's one heavy mf.

Any ideas on where to check?
I would guess there is just something that has come loose somewhere or toner that has ended up on some sensor maybe.

Yeah, it's getting old, but it's still a pretty good machine.
If it had sat for a LONG time, maybe the developer is packed? Try doing another developer calibration?
Another thing to check is the epu connection on the front frame of the machine.

Yes, make sure that the cyan and magenta developing units can turn. While you have them out, check for developer leakage at the front and rear seals. Those are indications that you have a developer rebuild in your future.

      1) If it won't turn, you'll have to rebuild the affected developing unit, and add new developer.
      2) If it will turn, replace the affected developer, and run the developer stir.
      3) If it still fails with new developer, replace the toner sensor for the affected color and re-run the stir.

      =^..^=

EDIT: Just because there are no errors before going into storage, does not mean that somebody did not part our those developing units to fix another machine before it came to you.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Bumped my head on this before.

After replacing worned gears and developer i found out that I needed to replace the auger on black developer unit.
There is a little piece of rubber in one of them, that get the dust of the auto toner sensor, if it's broken it will see always the same amount of toner and give you the error, upper or lower limits

Good machines if under a good tech maintenance and also the usage is meeting the manufacturer specs.

Be very careful with that 'spring leaf' agitator that is engaged by the movement of one of the agitators (scarps off used developer into discharge hole). It's recommended when manually turning the developer gears always turn the gears in the normal operation direction and not the other way because it may block the developer auger. Check it's correct position before developing unit maintenance if opened.
Defects are simple, our mind is complicated

Thanks for all help in this matter.

Found the developer in USA and got it delivered to Sweden within 5 days!

$400 was WAY less than $2000 that i would have to pay here.

Installed the developer and its working perfect.
