    6527AC not adding magenta toner

Once in an anomaly, twice is trend I always say.
Had a call from a tech, machine saying replace magenta. Machine has LESS than 200 copies.
First thing I had him try was reseating the sub hoppers. I've seen on setups, sometimes they
don't get fully seated. Still nothing. Sub hopper was full of toner. Had him run the sub hopper
motor both directions...would only run ONE direction. He's going to run the logic board test and
get back to me. Had him open a ticket just in case.

Two hours later, I get a call from another tech, 60 miles away, with an almost new 7527AC doing
the EXACT same thing. Asking for Magenta toner. Tech tried some things, called me back. Said
the magenta sub hopper motor is doing the same thing. Only working in one direction, not both.
They had another 7527AC (school) down the hall, swapped out the entire EPU unit and it worked
perfectly. Pretty sure it isn't a logic board problem, but a sub hopper motor problem. I told them
to open a case on that one as well.
Bad enough when you see the same problem twice, but within hours of each other, and many miles
    apart?
I'm sure ATSG will want the motors back.

    Follow up

One of the regional guys emailed me and said he saw the same with yellow toner. He was about to
replace the sub motor when he pulled the harness off the motor, he found this.
I'm having my guys go back and check to see if this is the issue.

Oh man. Don't you hate bent pins! They're mostly self-inflicted. That could explain it.
      =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Especially when the connector is a location that isn't easily accessed. The last bent pin that encountered, I had to disassemble half the machine. And my eyesight isn't what it used to be!

Yeah, that's why I didn't think to tell them to check that. These machines have been in the field about a month sitting
idle until last week when school admin started coming back for the beginning of the school year.
None of these machines had anything pulled that would of allowed access to that motor, since you have to remove that
cover over the EPU to get to them.

The assembly guy must of had a bad night of drinking Sake' and went to work the next morning.

First tech has revisited the machine that wasn't adding magenta toner. Yep, the pin was bent over against the side of the
            connector.
Gee, I think I see a TSB coming down the line soon.

Same here, knees are still good but, my eyes are shot.
If you can hold your phone steady enough, using the zoom on the camera works well for bending pins back into place.

So this is the magenta toner add motor? The one on the hopper assembly? I can't say that I've ever bent those pins, but others, yes. They're the small ones too (easy to bend). Good catch!! =^..^=

                  Yeah, Ribon 6527, pg 60, #20
We had some trade in machines and according to Ribon, that part number goes all the way back to the 5540, which makes sense since they really haven't
changed much in the image processing side, save for improvements.
