Customer couldn't find a Toshiba dealer nearby so they called us. Went to service looking for a problem with the transfer belt sensors (I only found 2 on this model and they were quite clean). Cleaned them off but didn't make any difference. Upon further discussion found out the customer didn't have the error code at first but saw what I think was the message to empty the waste toner container since it was obviously full. She then proceeded to remove all four developer units and pour the developer out of them all resulting in the code (we have had a few of our Sharp customers do something similar). We have since replaced all 4 developers, cleaned the 2 sensors again but the machine still gives the CA00 code. I physically opened the shutter above the sensors in case the solenoid wasn't opening it (seen this on several Konica models), reinstalled the transfer belt and tried again without success. From what I can see on the transfer belt it is laying down all four color patches on both sides of the belt that pass over the sensors in a straight then angled patch and looks like what I think it should but still gets the CA00. Any help at this point would be greatly appreciated since at this point there is almost no turning back! Thank you.

Re: Toshiba E Studio 3055C with error CA00
If the Waste Full message was the culprit of all of this unfortunate situation), usually will mess the transfer belt cleaner unit packing toner inside and pushing out the snail spring slowing down the transfer movement. Check also the transfer belt if is smooth turning, check bushings - tends to gum up and slow down things.
Have you replaced the developer powder or whole units? Have you been able to initialize new developer?Defects are simple, our mind is complicated -
Re: Toshiba E Studio 3055C with error CA00
I found this record in my database. To be entirely honest, I have no specific memory of this occasion. Assuming that I diagnosed it correctly, you should be able to swap in a new drum unit assembly (preferably with the new primary charge unit) to solve this issue. Knowing how I write these entries, there must have been an obvious broken plastic feature on the drum frame, for me to phrase it this way. Sometimes I take a photo to document, unfortunately not this time.
"CA00", returns early in initialization.
All patches are present and high quality. Patch sensors are clean. Feature on the black drum frame that the primary charge fits into is broken.
Repair the black drum frame where the primary charge block fits. Run color calibrations.
It is important that you did these things when changing developer:
1) reset appropriate counters
2) stir the developers to store new toner sensor base values
3) perform a color calibration
Don't you love it when the enduser helps you? It almost always costs $1K more than it would have otherwise. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: Toshiba E Studio 3055C with error CA00
This is going to sound strange, but pop the back off, pull the system board cover, remove
the Ram module, clean it off, reinstall it, hold the energy saver key when powering on.
I've seen so many goofy problems that make NO SENSE cleared by cleaning the dust off
the memory card and initializing it.
Probably not the issue, but it wouldn't hurt.Comment

Re: Toshiba E Studio 3055C with error CA00
Introduced in 2013 and discontinued in May 2016, all support on this model will cease from Toshiba Tec Japan likely in April 2024 if not earlier.
It was a mistake for this customer to put a dime into this copier. The HDD had a tendency to fail.
I decline to service this model any more.Comment

Re: Toshiba E Studio 3055C with error CA00
Thanks for the replies thus far. In answer to some of the comments:
I replaced just the 4 developers with OEM Toshiba bags, not the developer units themselves and did not initialize the new developers.
As far as this:
It is important that you did these things when changing developer:
1) reset appropriate counters
2) stir the developers to store new toner sensor base values
3) perform a color calibration
Did not do any reset of the counts or calibrating the DV, got info on changing the DV from a youtube video and they didn't state anything about how to perform a color calibration or storing the new toner values (Sharp does that with most of their machines). Don't know how to enter service mode and which simulations to use.
The transfer belt was turning over easily but that was out of the machine without the cleaning unit attached.
Will check the black drum comment and revisit to initialize/calibrate the developers if someone can email the directions.
As I said, we moved forward with this to help out a customer and as you guys can probably relate, have regretted it since. Maybe we'll get lucky and solve this time! Thanks again for the help!Comment

Re: Toshiba E Studio 3055C with error CA00
If it still errors after checking the drums and devs then worth check the IQC Sensor shutter is opening fully as they can become warped over time, or if the solenoid arm that operates the shutter hasn't broken off. If either is applicable then just remove the shutter completely, should still work without it, or replace it.Comment

Re: Toshiba E Studio 3055C with error CA00
I did remove the spring that closes the shutter to keep it in the open position all the time but it still gives the same error code. Won't be able to try the suggestions about the black drum and the RAM until next week and will re-post any results then. Thanks for now.Comment

Re: Toshiba E Studio 3055C with error CA00
Just had a tech on a 3555C series color machine with "dropped out" parts of letters, dots in the same place on a page.
Internal print or off the glass/ADF.
Had him remove the ram, clean it, stick it back in and power cycle and it cleared up his problem.Comment

Re: Toshiba E Studio 3055C with error CA00
Wanted to finish this thread with a follow up. We were ready to exchange this machine for one of our Konica color units but went back to try some of the suggestions including checking the black drum frame. Everything looked good and the machine had been unplugged for about 2 weeks. Before leaving our office, one of my service techs suggested we pray about it since she has had success in the past with troublesome problems, so we did. After reinstalling the drum and transfer belt one more time, I plugged it in and waited. Machine went through initialization and came to ready with no CA00 code. Made b&w and color copies and they looked great! Was it leaving the machine unplugged for 2 weeks, trying some of the suggestions made here, the praying or a combination? Not sure but I'm going to give some of the credit to divine intervention. Thanks again all!Comment
