    Most common issues with the 05 and 15 series?

    I'm asking my tech's and would like everyone's option on the most common issues they see in the field with these machines (5005ac/5015ac) series. Just gathering info to be more proficient. I switched over to Toshiba 4 years ago, big fan so far!

      Developer bearings, ID patch shutter mechanism, & weird ghostly sounds from the transfer belt assy when the facing roller gets dirty. I've seen a few laser failures too, when the machine won't hold color calibration. Also noise from the fans. Toshiba cheaped out on this generation of fans.

                          Fans are a problem. Take the older model fan and cut the wires and re solder/splice. Problem gone.

                          developer kit parts, also harder auger flag cuts into ats lol.

                          Those ridiculous coated charge grids, put the stainless version in.

                          HVT boards

                          end blocks yet again. Better to tap and run plastic screws like any Toshiba model

                          Transfer belt unit charge roller buildup mainly on the bigger machine, needs chemical wiping to remove it to eradicate ghosting in higher mileage machines

                              Do you mean just use the same grids on the CMY main charge assemblies? I haven't tried that because I was worried about potential CQ issues. But I'd love to stop running around replacing the coated grids at 30-50% below PM life rating.

                                      Until you've rebuilt a few of them, the fusers can be a PITA to rebuild. Just remember to lightly push the thermistor down as you roll the teflon sleeve over them.

                                          None of my 15's are good at holding color registration. Retrofit the color registration shutter solenoid bracket. You DON'T have to remove the registration roller to do it. Why they changed the design from the 05 is beyond me.

                                          They're pretty good machines. Stay away from generic anything.
