    Toshiba e-studio 550 error code

Error code C 46. Reconected all connectors. Changed lower thetmistor but error code is still appearing. When 08-400 set to "0" sometimes it works fine for 2 days but then C 46 again.
    Harness ? Any more ideas..

Yeah it is probably the harness. I think there was an updated harness with a spacer or something. I have seen a sticking main door switch cause problems when the customer tries to remove a jam and the interlock sticks closed which caused a insta-code when they pull the fuser/duplex/transport tray out.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

This entire series from the 550 to the 853 has problems with the intraframe connectors for both the fuser and ADU. Look at the frame side for cracked mounts and paper dust inside both sides of the connector. The plate that pushed the fuser connector out 2-3 mm was a waste of engineering. It just put more force on the frame side connector and caused it to break. Harnesses are difficult to find, if you need part# I'll be happy to post. EMujo

Also on the newer models the factory stopped putting in what is IMO a vital screw. On the fuser drive pack which also houses the connector to the fuser there should be a small screw to the left. The whole drive pack takes about 5 or 6 big screws and one small one to the left of the connector. Without this small screw it makes it easier for the connector to get pushed back into the machine and not mate up right.... I had forgot about seeing this problem cause fuser codes.

Changed all fuser unit from another Toshiba and no more codes. So it means that problem is in fuser itself. I just can't realize what is wrong ??? Connector looks normal, harness and thermistors also.. Looked error code list - all codes are connected with fuser: C44, C46, C45, C4A.

Probably a dumb question, but you did test the thermostats right? There are two up top.

Yes - i cheked them.. If it were thermostats then i think machine would have given error permanetly.. Now, when i'm writing this post this machine is standing one meter away from me and at the moment "READY" is on display, but i really know that till the end of a day or tomorrow it will show me that f***ing wrench and C46 or C44. Aaaaa !!! Only 3 possibilities left - harness, upper thermistors, or one of connectors. Which one ???
Sorry for my english if what..

Sorry I didn't re-read your original post to see that it did not code out instantly. I would try uppers and the harness on the fuser.

the white blocks that the thermofuses mount too burn up pretty bad--toshiba has changed them a few times but they still burn out. if your lucky they blow out around the metal screw holders and you can see gap. you must remove thremofuse to see blowouts.
