[Jamming] E-Studio 230 wierd prob.

Went out to a customers es230 and it said remove jam. Nothing was in the machine but the message would not clear. Customer say's this has been happening for a couple of weeks but got real bad today and could not be cleared.
It shows a jam in the door just below the by-pass/duplex unit. It looks like it thinks paper is coming up from a third our fourth tray, there is no 3rd or 4th tray, just two trays.
I took the whole right side apart and cleaned every sensor and checked the paper path, nothing found. Put it all back togther turned it on and still jammed (not really). Iwent outside and cleaned a filter came back in and the machine had cleared and I was able to make copies.
I did not know how to check jams, this is the only one of these that we work on, we are a Lanier dealer but work on anything.
Does anybody have any ideas as to what could cause this?

Do you have the service handbook? If so it's easy to check that the sensors are operating correctly with 03/04 mode iirc.... I'd suspect a flaky photosensor or something similar.

on the right hand door just below the transfer assembly is an actuator for a photosensor. Take it out and cut 2 mm from the end of the actuator and replace. This usually fixes the error. The arm is too long and sticks to the idler roller shaft. Slamming the door usually dislodges it until the next time.

I'd say if it is not transport sensor 1 (what spock referenced) then it's probably transport sensor 2. They are named out of order but #2 is located under the bypass. Stand on your head, take the black plate off (two screws.) The sensor is right in the center with a connector, you can snap it in/out. It's a type of sensor that is the actuator and sensor all-in-one. It is the same sensor found in all toshiba duplexers back through the e45 series so that might help you out. If this sensor is at fault you will probably see a lot of EB50 errors in your history (08+Power on mode, code 253.)

I do remember an acuator that seemed to be stuck (Ithink).

Well the acuator is not sticking (must have been another call).
I did run out some error history list, could someone please tell me what these codes mean.
E210, E550 and E030 these are from 9-106.
In 08-253 igot E550 1009 1507 234 and E550 1009 1510 5933 plus others I just did not write them all down.

the exxx part is the error the next part is a date/time stamp. Since this is the only one you have in the field I would take a sensor out of the duplexer and swap it with the one underneath the bypass and see if it changes. Then if it changes you could unplug the duplexer while you find a new sensor. If it doesn't change then it's probably the other sensor spock noted which can be swapped out as well with another to test, maybe out of a feed unit or finisher tray or something while you get the new one.

The most common sensor on that entire series is what I call the "Bypass" sensor. This is the one underneath the bypass tray. Remove the Duplexer and Bypass, flip it over and you'll see it. The common symptom prior to these just GOING OUT is that the customer will tell you that the machine "runs on and on" for several minutes after a copy job, then finally throws a jam. At first glance, this would look like it was adding toner, but not the case.

Sorry to leave you hanging before. Hard to talk myself into doing work when not at work.
Sensor under the bypass: 6LE09239000
It's called transport sensor 2 i think and is the same as the ADU sensors (two of them... which rarely go out compared to this location.)
You can also just stand on your head or if the floor is clean lay down and get to it. Just pop off the transport door, remove the black cover with two screws, you'll see it.
