[Dead] Estudio 45 not starting - hard disk problem

I have a Toshiba EStudio 45. When turning the machine on it shows the picture of the machine, and then goes to the wrench screen. Sometimes, we can get the machine working correctly if we cycle the machine on and off.

We believe the first step is to replace the hard drive. We have removed the drive, but unsure on how to get a replacement drive to work. We can see 5 FAT partitions on the existing drive, and the 3rd partition has 2 files that are unreadable.

Can someone offer advice on how to get a new hard drive working in this MFD?
    Thanks,
    Graham

You should be able to simply match the master/slave settings on the new drive (if you can find one that small anymore), pop in the drive and do an 08/690. This will partition the drive. There is no firmware that needs to be loaded on this HDD (unlike the Ebridge series) I haven't touched one of these in a while, but if you press the 3/c and power up, it may come up with a partition option like the ebridge series. If so run it and then do the 08/690. This MFP has been around for sometime, you may have a SYS board problem. Emujo
If you don't see your question answered in the forum, please don't think it's OK to PM me for a personal reply...I do not give out firmware and/or manuals.

Nah no 3+Clear. Just 08+690. Set the drive to master.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

Hi Guys, thanks for your information.
I've not yet got this MFP to work however. More ideas are welcome!

        - I have made the new hard drive as Master, with the jumper settings. (as per old HD)
        - Hold 3/c buttons on start gives 2 options: Clear NvRAM flags and Format a Language Partition. I've tried both without success.
        - 08/690 (and 08+690) - I'm unsure how to get this to work. Which screen do you do this on, and how do you press this sequence?

Of note, when I'm on the wrench screen and press 8/c the error code is "F07".
        Thanks,
        Graham

08 mode means to press 0 and 8 while powering up the machine, if you did it it'll go into "service mode" (it won't look like the normal mode @ all) just type 690 then press start basically.. I dont have the handbook handy to tell ya for sure what the f07 means but 08-690 usually does it.. if master doesnt work then try cs mode on the hdd.. Regards!

            Hi,
Thank you for explaining this. After I hold down the 08 at startup, and then type in 690 the start, I get the following screen "System Mode" "2 2". I think this is saying that the current system mode is 2, and I can change the second number to whatever. What mode should I go to, to format the drive?

(If I just keep the mode as 2, and press "set", the MFP says to reboot, and then I'm back to square one.)
            Thanks,
            Graham

Try the alternate jumper setting then, you got the process down right if the machine ultimately asks you to reboot. Otherwise, try a different hdd, or cable or hate to say it, sys board? You may want to verify the error code 1st tho..

                Regards!

F07 is comm error between SYS and LGC bd, as I suspected in previous post, you have an issue with either the SYS bd or LGC bg. 08/690 seems to be working as you are getting the re-boot message, so I would go with one of the boards next. Emujo

                    Hi guys,
As I don't have ready access to any replacement boards, my intention is to give up.
I appreciate your thoughts and advice and your quick responses.
                    Cheers, Graham
