    e-6520c post scrip3 undefined error

I have a real estate agent who has an e6520c which errors on some postscript jobs from their design program QuarkXPress. The layout of the offending document is 4 A4 sheets making up one duplex A3 center fold booklet. When I make my settings for this document the machine prints the first page (cover) on the last page (rear cover) and no more of he document. It also adds another A3 sheet in the middle and staplesx2. This extra sheet has the following error reported.

    ERROR: undefined
    OFFENDING COMMAND: QuarkXpress_6.5

    OPERAND STACK:

I can print this document with PCL6, matching the driver settings from PS3 and this works in the exact layout as we need, however the photos are very dark hence needing to use PS3. Also Toshi tech support suggested to uncheck the PostScript Pass Through box which results in the machine taking one sheet of A3, not printing anything at all and just folds it in the center. Not too sure what this is even meant to do.

I have tried just about everything I can think of but still cant get around it. I can convert the document to a PDF and print it in the correct layout using Adobe and PS3, but adobe doesn't allow me to change the frequency of the colour.

Well, thats about as simple as I can put it. Hope no ones head explodes trying to make sense of this.

    Cheers all.

P.S. Must be Friday. Good weekend all.

Have you tried Print-As-Image under the Advanced button in the driver. This has solved a lot of PostScript2 related problems with pdf's.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      I'll bite,

Have the user re-save and rename the file on they're PC not a mapped drive and retry to print the document using a LOCAL printer, make sure you use the correct PS3 driver for the OS. This is what I usually do to begin with.

I run across way to many receptionists who take a marketing class for one day and get promoted to a designer the next day and still use their crappy computer to boot.

Cheers for the replies guys. I have tried print as image but it still errored with post script pass through turned on and when turned off, just one blank page folded again. I have also installed local PS3 driver and another universal colour driver which Toshiba are working on. I have re-saved the file to the PC I have access to on site although I haven't changed the file name.
I'm starting to think its a saddle stitch/centre fold conflict as I can print the document on 4 A4 sheets single sided with PS3. Also, if I load A4-R into bypass and use saddle stitch, exactly the same errors occur as mentioned. So Im thinking, for now, that Quark and the saddle stitch are incompatible using PS3, and if that is the case, I'm f&%#ked.

        Will see what tomorrow brings.

A year or so back I came across a conflict between Adobe7, Adobe8, booklet printing, and Kyocera's KX driver version 4.4.0403, and the Copystar CS-C4035E. The solution for me was downgrading the driver, until a different version came out. Good luck man. =^..^=

I'd like to try this. Which driver to use is the question. Just about to head there now. Will post back later today.

Usually it is firmware-driver-software incompatibility. So if latest one firmware+driver (be sure You have it) would not help downgrading only driver is an excellent start. Next one check HP driver having the same functions.

I'll never ask if I didn't check user manual, service manual, parts list, BSI/TNI/TAD... web, existing threads.

This one has me buggered. Downgraded to different drivers, even set up the same scenario here at my workshop on identical machine, which hasn't changed a thing.

I don't like my signature anymore, it is becoming too true.

Have emailed the file and details to Toshiba, will see what they come back with.

                Thanks for ya help guys.

Does Toshiba have a Mini-Driver (streamlined print driver without the gui interface)? Or possibly a universal print driver (again streamlined, but with the gui, and compatible across all the machines)? Or a direct-print driver (prints without having to open the application)?

The chance of the booklet function working properly with another manufacturer's driver are pretty slim, but if you stay with a PS3 driver it may just work. I can appreciate your frustration. =^..^=

Yeh, Toshiba have mini drivers and a new universal which I have tried without success, also tried HP drivers but like you said the functionality is not there. For the time being, I've washed my hands from this machine until I hear back from tech support.
I much prefer problems which require a screw driver.

Received an email today advising Toshiba have been able to reproduce the problem in Japan and that engineers are working on a solution. Will update when I hear more.
