The gear in my customer's maching went bad. (Its the one that the fuser motor drives.) Has anyone done this job. It looks like a bear. Any tips. Thanks and happy 4th!!

Done it about 100+ times. Remove the back cover. Don't let all the wires fool you. Take out the 4 or sometimes 5 screws that hold the entire fuser drive in. Take out the 2 screws that hold the fan/filter unit(big black one) above the drive. Lift up on drive unit and lean the top of it toward you. Take e-clip off and old gear (sometimes a little stuck). Clean shaft add a little lube and put new gear and clip back on. Now here is the only tricky part. Put the drive back in making sure you get the bottom 2 feet back in the frame.(if they are not in, your duplex unit will not drive). Screw back in and put fan unit back in. Should take about 5 to 10 minutes. Some people don't take the fan unit out, but for me it gives me enough clearance to never have to unplug a fuser cable.Comment
