    [CQ] developer

Hello all, need help with a ES2830c, problem is a bald mag roller (C) the last 4" of the rear edge. All augers turn smoothly, but I can't get DV to that end of the mag roller. No DV spilled in the machine. I'm not a Toshiba guy, so any help is much appreciated!

You're going to need some cyan developer for sure.

You may have something foreign under the doctor blade. Usually when the developer becomes depleted you get what Toshiba calls "feathering" or "tiger tails". Essentially you'll see diagonal patterns of voids in the half tones.

If the machine was not level, it would affect all colors equally.

How many clicks? Perhaps you've got a failing mag roller bearing. Adding to the complications, we've had techs try to compensate for the widening doctor blade gap by narrowing the doctor blade adjustment.

If it were me, I would bring along a scrap cyan developing unit and a bag of cyan developer. Be sure to clear the appropriate counts in 6S-2, and stir the developer, then do a color calibration. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Is the mag roller the smooth or ridged?
It didn't say that I couldn't do it in the manual.

Good question. But I don't think developer slip would account for 4" of bare mag roller.

What michaelc is getting at, is on the smooth mag roller you can experience some developer slip. The fix is to take you green scrubbie and rough up the entire surface of the mag roller. There is no need to dump the developer. Just scrub an area, then rotate through to the next.

The symptom you usually get from developer slip, is bands of poor fill crossfeed, and there will be plenty of developer on the mag roller. =^..^=

I had a few that were completely bare at the ends, if the wear isn't picked up over a long enough time it eventually becomes so smooth nothing will stick to it at all.
No, I will not send you Manuals, Software or your own little repair Genie to fix all your problems for you.

you need a new mag roller the magnets have become loose inside the roller.

Nope, roughing up the surface as per the BSI from Toshiba Japan fixes the issue.
