Should plastic gears be lubricated in a copier?

I'm wondering if the plastic gears in the DC12 I'm servicing should be lubricated with oil or light grease - they look like they could use it, but I know that there could be issues with dirt attraction and reaction with the plastic. Should they run dry or if not, what is recommended?

Yes they should, there are different types greases for plastic gears. Most are white like brill cream hair dressing.

I used to use one called plastic-slip grease.

Most "nylon" (plastic) gears don't need to be lubricated but if necessary make sure grease is meant for plastic. Some grease can deteriorate plastic.
