    Phaser 7800 Stuck at Booting?

I'm not a big Xerox tech; mostly HP, but, have some experience with them.

This 7800 is stuck on the "booting"(?) screen. After a few minutes, the printer will restart/reboot. I plugged the printer directly into mains power (it was connected to a power strip). I tried reseating the I/P Board and the SD card on the I/P board. Looking at the troubleshooting section of the SM, I noticed a section talking about LED's on the I/P board. I don't see any LEDs on this I/P board.

This unit has a HDD and a 4GB SD card. Not sure what each does.

Would anyone kindly have any suggestions on what may be going on? My feeling is that either the HDD or the SD card is toast, but, that's just a wild guess.

    Thanks much!

Sorry for the squashed pictures, but, you guys get the idea.

If machine reboots constantly then can be bad sd card. Try with another good known sd card.

Format sd card and reload image to sd card

That would be great. Thank You.

Can I use any SD card, or, does it have to be a Xerox card? Can the SD card be any size, or, should I look for a 4GB card? Does the SD card contain the operating system? What does the HDD do?

I'll need some guidance on how to reload software.

          Thank you everyone!

The size of the image file pn. 160E04222 is 8GB. So you buy 8gb sd card, original is Micron Class 10, and write the image file on it. Not sure 100% the error is from sd card . It is good ideea to keep the original sd card as it is.

Would this procedure work on the 7800?

I would start with replacing hdd and installing firmware. For changing sd card you need special image file loaded into new sd card

Re: Phaser 7800 Stuck at Booting?

I found a post on the Xerox Community forums about this same issue. One of the comments suggested creating an image of the SD card from a working 7800 and then put that image onto a new SD card.

Could that be something I could try doing? I can image an SD card no problem. Just wondering if that's something that I could try. Trying to exhaust all options before sending any kind of quote that may or may not resolve this issue.

When a boot problem occured, its the SD Card or HDD the issue. If you change the SD CARD, does a software forced upgrade on a new hard drive. Should be good after that.

You can extract the hdd and use CrystalDiskInfo to know if you have warning, bad secotrs, etc. But change the HDD is moslty the issue with SD Card on this model.
