Xerox 5820 every other copy w/vert. void

This is an old machine but low meter count.
It will leave a top to bottom void every other copy. Not a complete void but very light, really about 2 inches wide on the trailing edge. I've replaced the imaging unit and the void was different but still there.
I've inspected and cleaned the transfer and wire. I've inspected the drive belts and found no cogs missing.
I'm stumped. Anyone out there have experienced this problem and what was your resolution?
    Thanks.

I did mean copy cartridge whenI mentioned changing the imaging unit.
      Any other thoughts?

Every other or every third image is a bad one is the copy cartridge on this model. The copy cartridge is the big suitcase size unit behind the toner/developer unit. It is possible to have more than one cartridge that is bad since most of these are rebuilt in mexico. I use to have the parts to rebuild them myself until I no longer worked for Xerox. I would have to order 3 or 4 just to get one that worked.

          void streaks

I have to agree with dr spock. have seen this a # of times you say you changed the IU and prob moved but was still present? have you checked your dev mag roller? I too used to rebuild these carts, what a pain. sometimes you would have to redo them several times. try to swap a cart(iu) that you know is working. good luck!!! jp
