if its a new belt and your fuser belt assembly has run around a million prints it would most likely be the fuser belt assembly . You would have to replace it with a new one. Happened on my unit after a million prints

well doc looks like u need a new frame assembly to keep the costs down, of u can go for the full belt assembly , from what i can make off from the sketchy information u provided

The belt assy doesn't appear to be in that bad of shape...the bushings etc are ok... there is a motor on the rear side that is a bit loose with the gear meshing .

there is no issue with the motor. Its fuser belt idle motor . The motor goes because of some issue with the belt assembly , either its too tight or deformed etc. You can remove the motor temporarily if you want .It just evenly distributes the heat on the P/R Belt when the machine is in idle/standby .

i gave my 2 cents on what i know about the belt assy , rest is up to you

Sounds like the belt edge sensor is bad. That's what keeps the belt from going too far in either direction.

If the fuser belt idle motor has worn out the belt will not steer properly; this can cause the problem. Make sure that the belt is turning when idling and you should also occasionally hear a brief noise from another motor which steers the belt. Other than that, I too would go for the edge sensor.

One thing that happened to me once was that the lever on the edge sensor pushed back so it was not in contact with the belt. If you caught the lever when you replaced the assy after replacing the belt this would cause the belt to go very quickly.
