Does anyone know what it is the needs to be reset on the transfer belt for a 6180? Is is a chip or a fuse? Seems a shame to fill the dumpsters with these things when the quality is fine.
I bought a used belt because I dropped a cart on my existing one and punched a hole in it. The used one immediately said "REPLACE", so guess I was bilked. So I took the 4 Philips screws from the damaged one and found a small circuit board removeable, so took it out to save for later. So when the used replacement dies completely I plan to replace the board with the one I scavenged...wish me luck.
So when my transfer belt quits I will remove the 4 screws and replace this board I salvaged from the torn transfer belt unit. Of course I assume there is a limit set perhaps due to quality of output, so will see if that is compromised by the extended life.
it's the chip only, if you change and dont clean waste box it will shortly oveflow with no message and make a nice mess. i know from experience.
Any idea if changing the chip and using the rest the same whether the belt itself is near toast???? Seems if they set at 100,000 copies there is some expectation??
