Fiery X12 - Stuck on Loading Screen

My Firery X12 is stuck on the "loading...." screen.I have tried holding down the fourth button to call up the menu to restore back up, but the menu will not appear.

I have tried using Spinrite as detailed in this thread. In the past, that used to work. However, it's not working this time.

I have read that I can solve my problem by putting a new harddrive in the Firery. I took an 80GB drive from an old PC and put it the Firery.When I did this, and held down the foruth button, the menu did appear.
However, it doesn't matter which option I select, they all go to a blank screen.

How can I reinstall the firery software on the new hard drive? (I have the installation discs).

Incidentally, when I put the old harddrive in the firery, I can't get the menu to appear (when holding down the forth button). I'm not sure if that means anything.

I beg your pardon for the translation, the translator was translating. I had this problem, replace the power supply and battery and now everything is OK

I don't understand.... I didn't think the firery had a battery.Does the new hard drive have to be formatted in a certain way?

just insert your CD1 at boot up and recycle power at the end of it and wait for your prompt to insert Cd 2 . simple

I try that but when I get to the installation screen and select to install from disc, the screen goes blank and nothing happens.Does the new hard drive have to be in a certain format?

i dont think so . I haven't done it with a fresh hard disk . You could try formatting or your disk is damaged.edit: how long did u wait for it to complete the re install ?

HiWith the new hard drive, I left it on all day, but nothing happened.With the old (Original) hard drive: I can't seem to get to the installation menu. I've taken great care to make sure that I have held down the forth button carefully, but it just gets stuck on "loading...".

i think my re install took about 45 minutes. well obviously somethings wrong here . Do you have another copy of the installation disks ? make sure the jumper settings matches that of the old HDD.

You can attach monitor to Fiery and see what happens.

When I attach the monitor to the fiery using the old hard drive (ie. the one that came with it), I get the following error messages:

"Non-System disk or Disk error
Replace and press any key when ready
Boot Failure
Reboot and select proper boot device
Or Insert Boot Media in Selected boot device
Press any key when ready"

How do I select the boot device?
The disc is in the CD-Rom Drive.

I've tried holding down the forth button, but nothing happens.

you have no operating system on your hard drive. you need to install .I think your source disk is damaged

I think the problem is with Cd-ROM Drive. It doesn't open without using a paper clip. Even if I open it with a paper clip, the firery wont recognise the disc.

Although the light on the CD-ROM drive is continually flashing.

Can I replace it with any IDE CD-ROM drive or do I need a special one?

You can use any CD ROM you have.As far as i remember you should format hdd ih FAT filesystem.

Would a DVD -Rom drive work, or are they too new for the ripper.

I believe it would work. Try you can't loose anything.
