DCP700 drums... An improvement over 250 style?

Xerox obviously changed the method of cleaning the charge roller on the YMC drums when the made the 700... The 250 style has the foam, or more recently, the soft brush, which gets pushed down onto the charge roller every so often to clean it. The 700 has a foam roller which looks to be in permanent rotating contact.

Question for those who have high volume 700's... Does this new method help the drums last longer? Or at least last all the way to 0% without failing early? The 250 style seem to often get just caked in white powder (even when the pusher fingers are working just fine) pretty quickly, and eventually this affects the print quality. Do the 700 drums hold up better?

Shame they're not interchangeable, but it would be good to know for the future, in case I get a 700.

    Thanks!

Do you need to change the chip for that, or does it run without modification?

I've seen it on C550 and drums are working much much longer.
          David thanks for the tip.

Thanks! Yeah, I do this frequently with the color units, but removing the white roller always makes me wonder if it works better, hence the original question, since after swapping the charge roller holder for a cleaned 250-style one, it is no better than an actual 250 drum...

Curious why you mention that it isn't good for the K unit, though... I also frequently use 700 and 550/560 style K drums as well. They're even easier since you don't need to do any surgery. Just swap the chip and you're good to go, as-is.

Anyone else have any experience using the drums actually IN a 700 or 550/560? They hold up longer?

              Thanks again!

for the K units i think its manufactured in multiple styles. Previously it used to work just change the chips and it will run .

Some units the waste toner just sticks on to the cleaning brushes of the drum .If you check my previous posts I had posted of this issue which i finally concluded on the drum units of DC250/700 lineage. I put DC5000 drum units for K and the problem vanished.
