xerox w/c 5855 scan... goes blurry

When the client is scanning to a P/C or making copies, thru the dadf, the scans or copies become blurry...like not using glasses to read when you need them......if they shut the machine off and then power up its fine for a while then becomes blurry again...any ideas? The ser. manual doesnt say anything and the error log doesnt have any errors except for some paper jams
    Thanks

if this was an easy thing to do then everybody would be doing it! But it isn't and they are not!!

My first guess would be something mechanical with the scanner. Possibly a loose or miss-positioned mirror. Maybe dirt build up on the scan rails is causing jitter. Does the problem differ between ADF and glass scanning? If its only with the ADF, maybe there is too much space between the original and the scan glass. If the original is not against the glass you can get the type of CQ problem you described.

      Morning!
If it was mech. would power off/on fix it for a while? Unless by doing this it goes to a home position on power up and then slowly creaps away from home. They never do the glass scan so they dont know and since it is a on/off problem they dont want to stand there and watch.... anyways its a out of focus situation like a camera which in a way it is the same thing...so what controls the focus on a scan....if it was a DADF clearance issue then the po/po wouldnt help that...sigh...thanks for your help by the way...also do you have a firmware update as the xerox site shows last march/13 as most current...firmware can be a help also

Is the resulting image compressed or stretched? Perhaps you've got a document feeder motor speed problem. If yes, it would never have a problem from the glass. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

            WorkCentre_5845-5890_system-sw07119010335100 is the last version.
But you must check if the scan from platen is good.
Defocusing problem is not a software problem.
