    Clean a GR/FR drum?

    Hello,

Does anyone on the forum have experience with cleaning a FR/GR drum?
I want to manually remove all ink and turn a red drum to yellow.

Do I remove the screens on the drum and clean with diesel?

    best

Hmm, the screens are not the most important there is a bar of ink on the inside of the drum. If you have an extra roll of masters and about 1000 sheets of paper you can just run it out. I would put a heavy coverage master on the drum go into test mode and I think it is test mode 105 or 107 to feed paper and print on it. I would run it and make new masters till it turns yellow. it might be a little longer due to the fact that you are going to a lighter color. That is what I would do, that way you do not have to get dirty

      Ok..

So i will make a master with a approx a3 size square and then put in the yellow colortube and run about 1000 copies?

Sorry if I'm a bit slow on how this works..

Well here is what I would do. First make master. I would always just do a sky shot(with the top not down). Place a piece of paper over the top of the glass so you have about a 2 inch margin at the top of the paper. This is to stop paper jams later on. Once master is made put in test mode run tm 107. Before pushing start take ink out of drum press start and let the machine run. In test mode the machine will run with no ink in the drum. Run till copies turn white or really faded. Now you have most of the old color out of the drum. Put in new ink run test mode 101 to ink drum with new color. Take out of test mode. Make a master like before and run around 50 copies. Repeat untill all the old ink is out and you are getting yellow copies. It may not look totally yellow on the drum for a few copies but as long as you are printing yellow you should be fine.

you press the master/print and line/photo buttons as you turn the machine on to enter test mode.
