    Paper Curling

I have a couple of MFCL8600cdw machines that are only at about 500 prints. The customer was complaining about a severe curl to the prints. I flipped and inverted the existing paper......no improvement. I checked the paper quality and pulled from a fresh pack of paper to rule bad paper "moisture" out. I then messed with the paper thickness settings as Brother recommends doing. Last, I selected the "Reduce Paper Curling" in the driver. That was almost laughable, as it made no improvements at all. Any other things I can try. From what I saw, those were the only things Brother recommends to remove paper curling problems.

    Thanks ahead for your help.

Replace 2 fusers that were just unboxed from factory less than a month ago? I would think this would be a big problem if the fusers are a problem out of the box.

I still think it would be a paper issue especially since this is a new machine. If not paper and since you have tried the Brother remedies it has to be the fuser is running to hot and that would be a warranty issue with Brother as this is a new machine.

Along these lines, I was going to suggest decreasing the fixing temperature 5C to 10C (if there's a way to do that). =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Have you tried updating the firaw are? Also have you tried a different brand of paper. Lastly check there is decent airflow for the machine to vent heat especially the rhs of the machine.

Try a good quality brand of 80gsm laser paper HP or Xerox

The Economy brands of paper do tend to curl more

I have already ran the firmware update tool Brother provides. Everything was current. I'm trying to track down the path to change the fuser temp if there is in fact a way to do that. On the next trip over I am taking a high quality 24lb laser paper to see if it reacts any different. Luckily the account is only a few blocks away from the shop. Thanks for all the suggestions. I will let you know.

                  Re: Paper Curling

Update: I used a high end 24lb paper and the curling improved (was 2" or more), but not gone completely. However brother says that a 1" curl is within specs on this model. The temps and humidity levels were in range of specs. So since I am now within specs, I would consider it the best it is going to get. I even ran it out the back door, and it still had a bit of a curl to it. There is no way to adjust the fuser temp on this model per Brother Tech Support and manuals.

                  Thanks for all the recommendations.

Can always mess with the pressure springs.
