    Brother MFC-L3710CW will not print

Once again the owner of our company has brought me an Brother MFC-L3710CW he has at his home. It will not print.

I have put it on our wireless network here at the shop. I can browse out to the network interface for the machine and login and make changes if I wish. I downloaded the latest print driver from Brother and cannot print to the machine. When I do try to print, the machine just says receiving data but never prints. I have to reboot to clear it. I changed the port on the driver to a TCP/IP port, but no change and same results. have to reboot to clear.

I noticed that the machine has CAT5 port. I may try to use the USB port to see if that will work.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

In WiFi settings make sure APIPA is off. Update firmware to the latest as it is so easy just in case.
When you download full package install from Brother site it should detect your IP address does it?

It must, but the install will not set the print driver up with a TCP/IP port. I installed a TCP/IP port on the print driver, but no joy.

I will look to see if APIPA is off and see if that works. I didn't know that. Thanks.

I believe full package will ask at some point about type of your connection - usb, WiFi or ethernet you should select WiFi and then it should automatically detect IP address.

Yeah, I downloaded it but didn't try the full package. I only tried the print driver only. When I get back to the office I will give it a go.

Thank you again for your help.

Also, I couldn't find an ethernet port on this machine.

Ohh that doesn't matter it's just in general installer asks about all connection methods available for the model.

                    Spambot bumps this topic lol

Try update the firmware via web inerface, if that doesn't help do a maintanance reset 01.

Thank you for the reply, Gift.

I have done Factory reset and All reset. In both cases I put he machine back on the network and browsed out to the machine via web interface and clicked Firmware Update. The display of the machine would then read Receiving Data. I would leave it on overnight. In both cases when I returned in the morning the display still said Receiving Data. I would reboot the machine, connect it to the network and it still would not print. I am using the latest Brother print driver. I have even loaded the the full printer package.

I do not know what a maintenance reset 01 is or how to preform it.

                        Do you need manual?

Sure. Wouldn't hurt. I only hope Brother tech manuals are not like Okidata manuals. Useless.
