ImageRunner 2010F Need to reset I don't have Dept ID or Password

I bought a used Cannon ImageRunner 2010F recently. I accidently put in a Dept id that I don't remember. Yes, it's true. I have no excuses. However, this makes it impossible to do anything but print.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the Dept ID and Password. I am guessing I need to figure out how to get into some type of system mode to clear out the Dept ID and Password. HELP, please!!

    You can try doing this.

    1. enter service mode *then 2 then 8 then*
    2. use arrow keys to get to CLEAR, press ok
    3. use arrow keys to get to TEL and USER DATA then press ok
    4. the machine will initialize then the dept id password screen will be bypassed

Just follow Screwtape's instructions. Like he said, 2 then 8. You don't need to press 2 & 8 simultaneously on this model.

I am trying, but I don't know how to go into Service Mode. If I just go in and press *then 2, than 8, then * it does not do anything.

so, the screen says "Enter Dept Id and Password" so when I enter your *28*, it automactically fills in the "Dept Id" section with "28". That is all that is happening. I am stuck in this sceen until I learn how to bypass.

Try Additional functions then #, then *. Or Additional functions then * then #. I can't remember the order but that is how you get into service mode for a fax. I thought the 2010 was *, 2, 8, * but give that a shot.

Progress. So, when I go into service mode. I get Service Mode #1 SSW SW03 00000000. If I click Ok, it takes me to "Data Entry OK", but quickly switches back to the SSW SWO 00000000 screen. Revised***Pardon, I noticed to goes to the next screen SW1 0000000, data entry, SW2 00000000

don't think u are pressing (*additional function key) many novice users press the wrong key.
it is the button with *asterisk/ then 2 > then 8/ then *asterisk

                    click on pic/

I am now in the service mode after trying Additional functions #28#, now I need to figure out what to do next. I get Service Mode #1 SSW SW03 00000000. If I click Ok, it takes me to "Data Entry OK", but quickly switches to SSW SWO1 00000000 screen, "Okay" Data Entry, then to SW02 00000000 and so on. Anyone know what to do next?

                        service mode

there are many SSSW in service mode so you are in, there are alot of areas you need to keep hitting over until you find the right menu these 2 line display canons suck especially the 2010. It can be daunting but you also might be able to Web into the machine, not sure if the 2010 has the RUI built in but typing the IP address of a networked 2010 into a web browser might get you there.
