    Designjet z6100 paper advance calibration

    I have a DJ z6100.

I recently had an issue where the screen wouldn't even boot up. I replaced the memory dimm and that resolved the issue.

Now when I load paper the automatic paper advance fails with code 97:01. It also gets some nice banding. I am sure the bandign is related to the calibration fail. Any suggestions?

From the latest Control Panel Message Documentation (CPMD):

    97:01
Problem Description: The Automatic Paper Advance Calibration failed.
    Corrective Action:
There are a few types of media which will cause the calibration to fail if used:
    Semi-translucent and transparent media (film).
Low quality 3rd party media will cause the printed dots to diffuse.
Use HP Media to perform the calibration.
Perform the manual advance calibration (Ink , Image quality maintenance , Paper advance calibration , Adjust Paper advance ), moving from 0 to 100% represent to an advance of the media by 1.5mm per meter.
Check cable connections between the densitophotometer/line sensor and the Carriage PCA.
    Replace the Line Sensor.

Yeah. It's important to know what media you're using if you want help. Some don't work with the automatic calibration.

If it fails with ALL media, then you have a hardware problem. I assume you've cleaned the OMAS sensor? If so, then try to observe the OMAS blinking while loading the paper and it's calibrating the advance. If it's not blinking you have a bad OMAS.

Lance; not sure where you got that info; the media advance calibration isn't done using the line sensor. I'm going to check on that though.

OK. Just to clarify. It matters greatly WHEN you get the 97:01 error. If you get it during loading the media, then it's likely the OMAS is either dirty, bad, or it can't see the back of the media loaded.

If you get it when you're doing the manual advance calibration, then it can be the media (again) or the carriage/line sensor.
